I began participating in annual talent shows at school and gained a reputation as a singer who was not afraid to take risks vocally and work towards my vocal potential. I was voted most talented in my class as a result of my vocal gift. In the few years I remained after high school in my home state, I was requested to sing for several weddings amongst members of my family and friends. I relocated to Georgia in 1998 however, to pursue what other avenues were available for vocal exposure. I first took part in a talent show that required my own original material. This was the first time I utilized a producer and background tracks and I gained valuable experience. I decided to ‘up the ante’ and pay for one on one vocal lessons at East Cobb Music Academy. I continued to look for other possibilities and in 2000 became a background vocalist for an up and coming R&B/ Funk band named ‘Unik Expressions. Pressures of life however did seep into the pursuit, making finding steady work a necessity. In spite of this, again I was requested to sing at weddings. In 2003 I sang at two weddings, one of which was out of state. In 2004, I was the requested wedding singer for a couple I was not familiar with in Virginia, marking the first time someone I did not know requested my services. This occurred again in 2006 in Toledo, Ohio. Once again I became a back ground vocalists for special local Atlanta artists such as Chiedza and Sauda. I even performed at the National Black Arts Festival (2004) and the Bronner Brothers’ Hair show (2006) for these artists. Intermittingly I also have performed at various nightclubs and bars for these artists and others. In 2006 I relocated to Florida. I joined a production company in the area, Heartbeat Productions, as an assistant that allowed me to add session vocalist, female lead in a band to my resume. In addition to this, I currently perform out regularly weekly as a lead female vocalist for the Chello Hollyday Band. I’ve absorbed many lessons these past years and look to continue to expand as a recording artist.
